Every year Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Landran organizes two-week Faculty Development Programme (FDP). The theme for this year’sFDP was “Innovations in Teaching Learning Pedagogy -A Practical Approach to Bridge the Gap between Industry and Academia”.
Our esteemed Chairman S. Satnam Singh Sandhu inaugurated the programme with highly motivating and inspirational speech based on National Education Policy, 2019 which was followed by the address of the keynote speaker Prof. (Dr.) Sarit Kumar Das, Director of Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar.
The FDP comprised of sessions held by various internal as well as external speakers/experts from corporate and academia where the external speakers elucidated the newly joined faculty members with their enriched valuable experience in context to bridging the gap between academia and industry.The internal speakersincluding Directors/Head of the Departments of the various departmentsprovidedthe participants with the complete overview of their respective departments.
Highlights of first week of FDP
The external speaker, Dr.Prashant, Scientist, CSIO, Chandigarh provided the participants with the insight on research, innovation and assessment of R&D outcomes. The hands-on session on Simulation was conducted by Mr.Maninder Mann, Alumni IIM Indore, and Director B3 Solutions. Using the simulation software the participants practiced the simulation techniques. Mr.PramodMisra. General Manager – Learning & Development, GR Infra Projects Ltd. spoke about the expectations of industry from freshers.The interactive sessions held by Dr. M.L.Singla discussed the role of a teacher beyond curriculum. Dr. Rangnekar, Prof, IIT, Roorkee delivered a session explaining methods of active learning and pedagogy. Dr. Shaweta Ennoble IP presented a detailed overview about the Patents and IPR. Dr.Prabhjot Kaur, discussed the relevance traits of a good teacher and its possible outcomes with newly joined faculty members. Mr. AmanPreet Singh an alumni od IIT Delhi and IIM Bangalore discussed about the importance of business analytics for academician as well as for budding manager. Dr.U.C.Banerjee, enthusiastically discussed the techniques of innovation in Teaching and the role of a teacher in bridging the gap between Industry and Academia.

Highlights of Second week of FDP
Dr. Ravi Kiran from Thapar University,Patiala delivered a session on statistics where she discussed the topic of reliability and validity in detail. The next session was taken by Mr. Muzammil Hassan on consultancy.Dr. Karun Verma from Thappar University,Patiala discussed about measurement of academic performance.The session was very informative where he discussed the various parameters of measuring the academic performance, course learning outcomes (CLO) and types of tools for measurement.Dr.Sonia Chawla, Associate Professor, NIT, Jallandhar took a very interactive session on the topic of Learning, unlearning and Re-learning. An online lecture by a faculty from Curtin Business School, Curtin University, Australia delivered a lecture on “‘Student Engagement & Industry Connect at Curtin Business School”. An Industrial visit was also arranged where all the participants of FDP visitedVardhman Textiles Ltd., Ludhiana. The objective of this industrial visitwas to bridge the gap between classroom theoretical learning and practical learning in a real-life environment.
The FDP was concluded on 5th July, 2019 with valedictory ceremony where honourable Campus Director, Prof. (Dr) P N Hrisheekeshaand Head HR, Mr.BarinderSawhney awarded certifictaes to the participants.
The vote of thanks was given by Prof. (Dr) Ramandeep Saini, Dean International Affairs, Chandigarh Group of Colleges who was the Coordinator for this FDP.
