“Orientation & Induction Program”
Brief details of the event highlights: MBA Dept., CBSA organized an Online Orientation and Induction Program to welcome and to facilitate their new batch (2021-23) students, in smooth adjustment in the new environment. This program aimed to get the new students familiar with culture of CGC and MBA Dept.The program started with one day online orientation program on 9th Sept 2021, followed by a week Induction Program from 10th Sept- 16th Sept 2021. Students were welcomed by honourable Management of CGC in the Orientation program. The induction was designed in such a way that it could help students to build bond with other students and faculty members.
Number of online sessions and activities were conducted during this whole week catering to different needs of the students.
Induction Program covered different Aspects:
Familiarization with department- The students were introduced to the department, its working, its procedures and faculty members by Dr. Sunayna Khurana, HOD MBA Dept.
Mentoring Sessions- This session was conducted by Ms. Manisha Aujla, Assistant Professor & DHC. Ms Aujla introduced the team of class counsellors to mentor and guide students throughout their course.
Interaction of students with their Class Counsellor:Students interacted with their counsellor and formally joined department by submitting their detailed information in registration form.
Interaction session on NCC: NCC and its activities in CBSA were introduced to the students. The session was taken by Lt. Jagvinder Singh Thakur.
Session on Art of Living: This session was introduced to enhance positivity in students. Mr. Varun Upadhyay, Expert in Art of Living emphasised on the need of meditation to have a control over their mind.
Training and Placement Session: This session was taken by Head Mr. Mandeep Singh ,TPP and his team members, Mr. Navtej Singh, Mr. Pardeep and Mr. Jitanshu. Team members discussed how training and placement program is going to help students in better and satisfying campus placements. Students were also made aware of placement policies and training sessions
Human Values Session: Students’ attention was drawn towards the need to inculcate human values to build up healthy and respectful culture in organisation. This session was taken by Dr. Tanuj Sharma, Assistant Professor..
Personality Development: Session were also conducted by Ms. Gagandeep Kaur Bhullar, DSW. She emphasised on how personality plays a major role in approach to challenges.
Session on Virtual classes on LMS: Session focussed on informing students about LMS Platform used by college for virtual classes. LMS working was explained by Ms. Astha and Mr. Neeraj, Assistant Professors and LMS team members.
Session on Covid 19 Guidelines: Dr. Kamaldeep Singh, Medical Officer CGC cleared students’ queries related to pandemic and also discussed guidelines and precautions to be taken in routine life to protect themselves from covid 19.
Session with Director Academics: Dr. J. S. Khattra, Director Academics discussed the rules and regulations related to attendance and sessional exams in the current course.
Communication skills: This session was taken by Ms. Upasna Khera, Assistant Professor. Students were told the techniques to improve communication skills.
Dept. Clubs and Events: Ms. Baljinder Kaur, Assistant Professor discussed in details events and domain activities of MBA specialisation organised in dept every year. She encouraged students to join clubs in dept to develop management skill.
Session on Library: Ms. Renu Oberoi, Chief Librarian explained the procedure to borrow/return a book and policies of library system.
Session on Research activities: Dr. Harbinder Singh, Associate Dean, R& D, ACIC, RISE talked on research work, patents and start-ups. He also ensured guidance to students on registering patent and on start-ups.
Session with Industry Expert:Mr. Satinder Singh Ahuja,National Head – Rural Housing Finance, HDFC was the expert speaker for the session who gave immense knowledge to students on the demands of industry from students.
Session Registration: Dr. Anil Sharma Registrar CGC discussed the documents needed for registration as per PTU guidelines.
Session on Time Management: Session was conducted by Dr. Deepika and guided students to channelise energy in a better way by managing their time.
Session on Yoga: Students performed yoga with Mr. Nitish Sharma, Yoga expert. Students did Asanas under guidance of expert. Students were enriched of benefits of performing yoga regularly
Session with Alumni:An interactive session for students was organized with alumni. Alumni Ms. Manpreet Kaur & Mr. Girish Gupta interacted and motivated the students to work on their strengths to be confident.
Session by International Dignity:An interactive session for CBSA students was organized on “Could insects be the wonder food of the future?”. The session was conducted by Dr.Phuah Kit Teng, Senior Lecturer at Tunku Rahman University College, Malaysia. She talked on sustainability challenges, sustainable development goals, Global Food Security Index, entomotourism and Food Neophobia.
Talent Hunt Activity: Talent Hunt activities were organised on last day of Induction program. It aimed to provide a platform to students to showcase their talents. Students were seen enthusiastic to take part in the competition in singing, dancing, modelling etc. Ms. Seema, Dr. Deepika and Dr. Tanuj were judges in this competition.
Response of the audience/ learning for the students: Students enthusiastically attended, interacted in all sessions.
